Corbett needs to step up and TAKE ON the UNIONS. The taxpayers of Pennsylvania are behind it!
Your a little grouchy today.
Minnisota
Galloway said Pennsylvanias problems are nowhere near as severeas those of the federal government, so budget projections shouldnot be as dire.
You do realize that taxes paid by companies are passed on to the consumer in higher prices. Then youll complain about higher energy prices.
I have to laugh at the ct some people complain about the "under educated" and "unemployed masses". Often these same people want to cut the funding to school districts. We are undermining the economic future of our country. That said, the state should take steps to ensure the dollars are well spent. The grandiose design of the newer schools or their additions is a waste of money if you dont have the microscopes, test-tubes, computers, and other hardware to ensue the students graduate with the skills they need to move forward either in college or a trade. Cut down on the top heavy administrators and managers. As an example, does every building need an athletic director, or do they need an organized secretary that is given the authority to schedule the teams, building use and transportation.
And they are not even the bad ones when com[pared to McIlhinney, Tomtechnical schools in delawarelinson, Petri, Farry, etc.
The state republicans are trying to remove local control. It wont work. Did you skip that part. It is a big deal and may sink the whole bill. So yes we will see how it plays out.

Energy is sold on an international market. Local taxes do not affect end user price.

Were not $15 trillion in debt, he said. We balance our booksevery year. We have a pension bubble, really bad bridges and roads, and we need funding for transportation. But his insistence on notcompromising and forcing cuts that are unnecessary has got tostop.
Then there was the $625 million cut more than 50 percent forthe 14 state-owned universities in the State System of HigherEducation, plus the state-related schools: Pitt, Temple, PennState and Lincoln.
They released their report last June, yet the governor has notimplemented any of their recommendations. Hes just kicking thecan down the road, Galloway said.
Though the state contribution to basic ed ultimately was a 4.6percent increase, the loss of $1 billion in federal stimulus moneywas problematic.
If thats the case then tax every ccf of natural gas produced $100. Peco wont buy it, they wont have any customers and then there will be no drilling in PA..
That was not the case last March when the headline out ofCorbetts first budget address was cuts to schools: a $550 millionax to basic education; removal of $100 million for AccountabilityBlock Grants for school districts to spend as they see fit; andslicing districts reimbursements of Social Security payments.
This legislature only knows how to increase taxes so they can spend more. As r as education is concerned start to trim that figure by trimming the pensions and the other benefits that these State employees enjoy. Do the same with the teachers. Cut 5% from every other line item in the budget. If that doesnt work start laying off 10% of every department except police and public safety. Cut higher education money by 40% until such time as these universities start living within their means. Start taxing their endowment funds which are ridiculous. If the private citizens get taxed on their inheritances, then the public and private universities should be taxed as well.
Said Galloway, Weve got the most bridges, the oldest bridgesand the most structurally deficient bridges. Its thetrifecta.
So when area lawmakers were asked what they hoped to hear andhoped not to hear Corbett say Tuesday, Rep. Steve Santarsierosimmediate response was to put $1 billion back into basic educationand $300 million back into higher education.
Tax the gas Corbett and stop the free ride. Even Texas taxes the gas drillers. This is nothing but the t cat coal barrons all over again. They will rape our state and walk away.
Wisconsin
This high corporate tax rate wasnt done by Democrats. Itstheir bad tax policy. They should be able to fix it. The pensionproblem, they own it. They did it and they need to fix it.
STOP THE TEACHERS UNION FROM DESTROYING OUR SCHOOL DISTRICTS!

The job is only worth so much, good times or not.
Some of you dont get it.
However, in a $27.15 billion budget that cut spending by 3percent about $1 billion the GOP restored $230 million in basiced funding, all Accountability Block Grant money and a large chunkof the Social Security portion paid by the state. The final budgetalso reduced the cuts to higher education by 19 percent.
I dont think any of these politicians know the first thing about running a business. When your revenues dont exceed your expenses, you have three options: 1) cut spending or 2) raise revenues or 3) a combination of the 2.
"Local taxes do not affect end user price"
A year ago, Corbett, who pledged not to raise taxes during hisgubernatorial campaign, ced a budget shortll of $3 billion.Estimates this year peg the hole at $500 million.
Clymer, a Republican, joined Galloway and Santarsiero in seekinga tax on Marcellus Shale. I would like to hear the governor saythat Democrats and Republicans are moving to bring a resolution toMarcellus Shale, he said. And I want to see that localmunicipalities are able to maintain their zoning rights.
Are you to say that every cost does not come into play when pricing ANY product, including natural gas??? Cmon, Donny, you are smarter than that. It doesnt matter where it is sold...Location does effect pricing and ALL expenses effect the final price of any product. Lets try to keep it real here.
"I have read about the gas bill you mention and I am not sure how it will play out."
Almost all of the the Republican State Reps and Senators in Bucks are pro-union.
Lets take our country back from the deep pockets of the UNION FAT CATS!
As Gov. Tom Corbett prepares to unveil his second budget onTuesday, area lawmakers of both parties have formed a consensus onone issue dont cut basic education funding.
We do not pay more for Alaskian oil just because it is taxed.
The UNIONS controlled the state House. The UNIONS were given the sweetheart deals that WE now have to pay for. Its not a party thing...Its a UNION thing.
Rags the stand against unions is not going so well in the states you mention. Why dont the republicans do something about the pension mess they created???? You all blame the unions and it was not the unions who created the pension mess. It was a republican gift. The bill was signed by a republican named Ridge.
Take a stand against the UNIONS.

Why doesnt the government just tax everything at 100% and each month send every citizen a check based on what they thing we deserve. This should make liberals happy!
Dear conservative you suffer from the Republican malidy---the doctor mistook your head for the other end at birth!
All of these organizations such as schools, prisons, legislatures, and welre groups see the taxpayer with increased taxes as a solution to their problems. They need to run more efficient organzations because the taxpayer is broke. At least Corbett realizes this with his no new tax pledge. We are living in the Obama economy of record poverty, record debt, record uninsured, record foreclosures, and record lines at the food bank.
The unions do have a strong organization and billions in resources...But the people of Wisconsin are going to determine the outcome of that fight...not you. The people of each state should determine the states stance on unions...And the Millions and Billions of FatCat union dollars coming in from out of state should be banned.
Thank your Republican state officials for this bill.

I have read about the gas bill you mention and I am not sure how it will play out. They had better not take away local control of gas drilling or the bill will il! As it stands now they are giving away the ranch.
Casinos are flush with so much money, millions and millions ofdollars, we should increase the percentage on table games, saidClymer, a vocal anti-gambling advocate. There is still much moremoney that should be coming to Pennsylvania. Id love to hear thegovernor say we need to increase that tax.
They are the key to everything, she said. I do not want tohear about any more cuts to public education and health services. Iwould like to see something to go toward tax relief, especially forseniors.

technical schools in delaware Lawmakers to Corbett: Hands off education funding - phillyBurbs.com : The Intelligencer,That is a critical line item, Rep. Paul Clymer, R-145,chairman of the House Education Committee, said of the states$5.35 billion spending. Hold it harmless.
When are the republicans gonna get something done. The couldnt even get the redistricting right. These guys are a joke. Republicans created the pension mess when they gonna clean it up.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) Pennsylvanias top-ranking state senator says hes hoping for a speedy vote in his chamber on sweeping legislation to impose a drilling fee and update safety regulations on the booming natural gas industry.
Ask and ye shall recieve...
Many corporations in Pennsylvania dont pay a dime, saidGalloway, who added that once the loophole is closed, the tax ratecould be lowered to 5 percent or 6 percent, which would boostemployment and therefore revenue.
Rep. John Galloway, D-140, and Santarsiero suggested closing theDelaware loophole, where businesses avoid Pennsylvanias 9.99corporate net income tax by establishing a holding company inDelaware.
Your attack is lame rags. I am not waiting for anyones opinion I stated my opinion.
And enough with the good times, bad times stuff. Everything is cyclical, nothing is forever. The good times are suppose to help you (people, govt, school districts, etc.) get through the bad times when they occur.
All polling shows that the people of Pa want the gas taxed. Do what we want Corbett.
Governor Corbett,
Santarsiero wants to turn this into a GOP problem...Well, it is both the GOP and Democrats that have put us in the hole that we are in. In the late 70s throughout the eighties and nineties and into the new millenium The GOP at the state level forgot how to be fiscally conservative. The Democrats have always been big spenders so there is not fiscal responsibility expected there...
We no longer want to have our government held captive by these unions and corporate Fat Cats. Give the government back to the people.
I wonder why it OK for Alaska to tax its oil but is wrong for Pa to tax our natural gas.
A year ago, Corbett created the Transportation Funding AdvisoryCommission, 40 individuals of his choosing, to look for ways to payfor statewide needs. Those include dangerous bridges, crumblingasphalt and underfunded mass transit systems.
Area lawmakers said they hoped to hear that Corbett will takethe lead on fixing the states crumbling infrastructure, come upwith a plan to raise revenue and make the commonwealth morebusiness friendly to create a solid foundation for years tocome.

On the taxing of Marcellus Shale gas - DO IT! It isnt like theyre going to go drill elsewhere.
Rep. Todd Stephens, R-151, said he vigorously opposedCorbetts education cuts. We need to keep in mind that educationneeds to be one of our priorities. Our schools did endure a toughcouple of years here.
I dont want to hear that there are going to be more cuts toeducation, said Santarsiero, D-31.
Said Santarsiero, Its time for some leadership, and I knowthat on our side of the aisle were willing to negotiate. But itsgot to start with the governor. Hes got to do the reasonable andir thing on these issues.
The vast majority of education funding doesnt go to education. And why do I have the most brutal state rep in the state? Whoa! Seriously.
Do not cut funding to the schools...but absolutely cut funding to the School administration.
If you dont understand how energy is sold then you need to get an education. Do a search on energy world market.
The two Democrats wanted to see Corbett address infrastructure, which Santarsiero called a $3 billion a year problem, referringto estimates of the money needed to properly address Pennsylvaniasroads and bridges.
of your own...I mean lets not have minds of our own here...
Conservative...You make a strong point...The established Rs turned away from fiscal conservatism. And here is where we landed. Its time to get back to fiscal conservatism...
dwhite,
Rep. Tina Davis, D-141, said jobs and home ownership are twothings the governor should promote in his Tuesday speech.
Since taxpayers are paying the bill, public sector employees need to realize that if theyre not willing to take a cut when times are bad, they shouldnt be expecting to be get more when times are good
There you go...Our State Government at work for you.

These politicians should understand that when there is no money it is because they spent it all. Grow a pair and start acting responsible until such time as the economy turns around.
Alaska has no revinue problems in ct the citizens get a check every year.

the lawmakers are right... there should not be 1 cent cut on basic education spending. we lag r behind on basic education in this country. lets hope the common sense choice can be made and corbett doesnt scew this one up.

Santarsiero pushed for a strong tax. No more talk of these feesthat last only 10 years and are one-fifth of the size of otherstates. We need it to protect the environment and fund other needsin the state.
Look at Marguerite Quinn and Bernie ONeill ... endorsed by the PSEA (Teachers Union) and funded by unions.
I understand...You have to see how the Democrats feel before you make an opinion
I guess it all depends on what your definition of "basic education funding" is. It isnt outrageous salaries, benefits, and pensions. And yes, you can throw administrators compensation packages into that mix too.
I explained my objection to the gas bill.
