Chiawana&39;s Chris Monte-longo claimed the 106-pound crown wiht a 12-2 win over Aaron Klauder of Deer Park, concluding a strong weekend at the weight for the first time this season. Montelongo, a junior, placed sixth at 4A state last year at 103 and figures to be on a short list of vorites for the 106 title this season.

Gomez, a two-time state runner-up, rolled over Toppenishs Raul Pech in the finals with an 18-3 technical ll. The Othello senior won his first match in a decision, then ended his final three early.
Sikes was one of three first-place finishes for the Riverhawks. Also clinching victories were Jacob Garcia (113) and Abzael Loeca (220).
Meanwhile, Moses Lakes Nico Moreno claimed the 152 title with a dominating 17-4 win over North Centrals Mitchell Bocook. The Chiefs senior and two-time state runner-up cruised through the bracket until edging Post Falls standout Tyler Booth 3-2 in the semifinals.

Berger, just a sophomore, won the crown at 132 with a 7-6 victory over Tahomas Joey Palmer in another battle of top-ranked guys.
A trio of Mid-Columbia wrestlers won titles Saturday at the Pacific Northwest Classic at University High in Spokane, including two from the Tri-Cities.
The host Riverhawks jumped out to a 31-point lead Friday in the first day of the CBBN 4A district, moving 15 wrestlers into today&39;s semifinals.
Anthony Barrera finished second at 106 for the Huskies.
Hermiston added two more placers, including a terrific run by Lupe Delgado to finish third at 145, losing only to Mead state champ Jeremy Golding in the semis but bouncing back quickly to down a two-time state placer.
Hanfords Joe Traverso was a runner-up at 170. Sunnyside, which placed fifth (14 points behind Othello), got a second-place showing from Nathan Gonzalez at 132 after the senior lost a 4-2 decision to Zillahs Cortez Hernandez in the final.
Isaac Aguilar added a seventh-place finish at 113.
Eric Garza and Joey Gomez paced Othello with individual titles, and the Huskies won the CWAC district championship by 59 points over host Ellensburg on Saturday.
Two weeks ago at Kelso, Gilbert Mendoza edged twin brother Robert 2-1 in a tournament final.

Moses Lake had two more wrestlers place fourth: Beau Gleed at 126 (his only two losses were to Eric Soler of Lake Stevens) and Jonathan Perales, who lost his opener at 182 but rallied for four straight wins.
Now, they are working on their first district championship.

The Bulldogs finished 10th in the team race, with Mead topping the standings. Moses Lake finished 12th.
Garza (152 pounds) and Gomez (220) were two of three finalists for Othello, with Bubba Ruiz losing to Grandview&39;s Martin Torres 9-5 in the 285 final. The Huskies advanced 14 wrestlers to next week&39;s regional with the Great Northern League at West Valley in Spokane.

Toppenish 58, Grandview 9:Toppenishs Aaron Arredondo took a 4-3 decision over Grandviews Joesiah Saunders in a 138-pound contest that went into triple overtime as the Wildcats defeated the Greyhounds in a CWAC 2A matchup Friday.
Gilbert won at 138 pounds, and Robert -- wrestling unattached for the "Bulldogs" team -- topped fellow Pasco wrestler Jackson Fromm 1-0 in the 145 final.

Earlier this season, the Chiawana Riverhawks won their second league title and ran the table in the CBBN 4A.
Richland senior Josh Andrew took the title at 120 with an 8-4 win over University&39;s Keaton Vallance in the final. Andrew scored a 6-1 win in the semifinals over Chiawana&39;s P.J. Murillo, who went on to place third.
At Yakima
Chris Montelongo knocked off a No. 2 seed in his first-round match at 113 and came shy of placing following a pair of two-point losses.
Kamiakin brought an abreviated lineup, with Tyler Almaguer reaching the quarterfinals at 106 for the Braves top showing.
Torres was joined in the finals by teammates Stevie Rodriguez at 120 and David Castaneda at 126, both of whom finished second. The Greyhounds, who had a tough dual season because of numerous forfeits, squeazed the most of of their district squad with seven reigonal qualifiers and 144 points, 23 out of fifth place.
Chiawana didnt reach the podium but still had some strong showings.
